Ang shilling ay nasa sirkulasyon sa United Kingdom hanggang 1971 nang i-decimal ng bansa ang pera nito. Sa ngayon, ang terminong "shilling" ay kadalasang ginagamit bilang isang impormal na paraan ng pagtukoy sa isang maliit na halaga ng pera, o bilang isang salitang balbal para sa pagsulong o pag-endorso ng isang bagay para sa personal na pakinabang.
